I arrived three hours late to my own wedding because I was performing emergency surgery on a six-year-old girl. When I walked in, my fiancé had already married my best friend, and my future mother-in-law mocked me, saying, “You already missed your chance.” I didn’t argue. I simply turned around… but at the door, I saw the man who would change everything they thought they had won.

I paused to reflect deeply before speaking.

“I do forgive you, Gemma.”

Her face brightened with a sudden flash of hope.

“However, forgiving you does not mean inviting you back into my life as a friend,” I added firmly.
