At first, Patricia frowned. When the video showed her shoving Daniela, her hand flew to her mouth. Then her own voice echoed from the speakers, talking to Oscar.

Her brother Oscar was about to lose his auto repair shop. He was drowning in vendor debt, overdue taxes, and high-interest loans. Patricia decided to rescue him. Without telling me, she had taken out a $10,000 personal loan in her own name. Oscar promised he would pay it back as soon as business picked up.
Instead, the shop lost its biggest fleet contract. Oscar defaulted on his promises, and Patricia started making the monthly loan payments using her personal savings, then dipping into our joint family account.
